Lektor es un sistema para crear, leer y realizar actividades con libros electrónicos. Sus características principales son:
Facilidad de uso
Extremadamente fácil de utilizar, Lektor se asemeja a la lectura real de un libro…en la pantalla. La menor calidad de la pantalla comparada con la lectura en papel tiene, sin embargo, las ventajas de los libros electrónicos: podrá subrayar, marcar, anotar, buscar palabras, etc. sin esfuerzo.
Disponible en los principales sistemas operativos
Lektor está disponible para ordenadores basados en Windows (cualquier versión posterior a Windows 95), Macintosh (sistema 8 y posteriores), y Linux (en desarrollo).
Interfaz de usuario en varios idiomas
Muchas de las opciones de Lektor son gráficas, pero las que requieren leer un texto están disponibles en 5 idiomas: español, catalán, inglés, francés, y portugués. Otros idiomas pueden ser añadidos de manera fácil.
Lektor no requiere instalación especial. No añade programas especiales a su sistema operativo. Para ser instalado es suficiente con trasladar la carpeta 'Lektor f' al directorio que desee. Para ser 'desinstalado' es suficiente con arrastrar la carpeta que lo contiene a la Papelera.
La carpeta 'Lektor f' debe tener aproximadamente la apariencia siguiente, aunque con las variaciones de cada sistema operativo:

Otra carpeta denominada 'libri' que se utiliza para contener los libros de su biblioteca.
Un fichero de texto denominado 'milengua.txt' que guarda sus preferencias sobre el idioma para comunicarse con Lektor. No debe abrirlo.
Un fichero 'LEAME' con informaciones varias, en español y en inglés.
Empiece leyendo el fichero 'LEAME' por si hay alguna novedad importante. Después ya puede arrancar Lektor con un doble clic. Aparece la pantalla principal de Lektor:
En primer lugar, seleccione el idioma de comunicación con Lektor. Haga clic y mantenga presionado el botón del ratón en la zona donde se ecnuentra el cursor en forma de mano. Aparece un menú desplegable con la lista de los idiomas que puede utilizar. Al escoger uno, los botones inferiores cambian su nombre indicándole que la selección ha sido efectuada.
Los botones inferiores le permiten realizar las dos operaciones básicas de Lektor que son objeto de esta guía: Crear libros y leer libros. El interrogante le conduce a esta misma guía, disponible en Internet. Puede consultarla para ver si se ha actualizado. Finalmente, el aspa de color rojo sirve como botón o zona para cancelar. En esta pantalla, cierra Lektor.
Los libros creados con Lektor pueden ser descargados de Internet. Es suficiente con buscar una página Web que los contenga y seguir las instrucciones de descarga. Algunas páginas Web que contienen libros realizados con Lektor pueden ser enlazadas desde la web de Lektor:

User friendliness
Extremely easy to use, Lektor is similar to reading an ordinary book … on the screen. Compared to reading from paper, reading from the screen is always more difficult. However, you as a user enjoy the advantages of electronic books: you can easily underline, mark, write notes, search for words, etc.

User Interface in various languages
Many of the menus offered by Lektor are graphic, but those which require reading a text are available in 5 languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, French and Portuguese. Other languages can easily be added.
Lektor does not require a special installation. It does not add special programmes to your operating system. If you want to install it, you need to paste the folder 'Lektor f' into a directory of your choice. To deinstall it, you only need to drag the folder with its contents to the Recycling Bin.
The 'Lektor f' folder must look similar to the below diagram, albeit with some variations due to the operating system:

Start by reading the 'README' file in case there are any important updates. After this you launch Lektor with a double click. The main Lektor screen appears:
First of all, select the language for communication with Lektor. Click and hold the mouse button pressed on the area where you see a hand-shaped cursor. There will appear a drop-down menu with a list of the available languages. When choosing one, the lower buttons change their name indicating the choice that has been made.
The lower buttons allow you to carry out the two basic Lektor operations that are explained in this manual: to create books and to read books. The question mark takes you to this very guide which is available in the Internet. You can check it to see if there have been any updates. Finally, the red "x" cancels everything. On this screen, it closes Lektor.
The books created with Lektor may be downloaded from the Internet. Just search a web page that has them and follow the instructions for downloading. Some web pages containing books made with Lektor can be found in the Lektor web pages:
